After thrashing Arsenal in the league meeting, Liverpool did the same to PSV Eindhoven, beating them convincingly 3-0. This victory means that Liverpool is red-hot favorite to reach the semifinal of this year UEFA Champions League.
Dominating the match throughout, captain Steven Gerrard, defender John Arne Riise and striker Peter Crouch scored the goals for Liverpool in a crucial away fixture. PSV, though considered as an attack minded team, surprisingly focus on defence and was negative in the entire match. And that you can’t do against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United because there is abundance of quality within the team and one good move can surely destroy you.
After the victory, Liverpool captain Gerrard said:
We proved very hard to break down tonight. All we need to do now is to finish it off and be professional about it.
Well said Gerrard, professionalism is the buzzword in the football pitch and looks like Liverpool have plenty of it at least for the moment.
